Yvonne, RMT

Yvonne has been a registered massage therapist since 2010.  She specializes in therapeutic and sports massage.  She has undergone extensive training to become certified in many movement/stretch therapies.

Some of these specialties are:

  • Fascial Stretch Specialist (level 3 medical)
  • Active Isolated Stretching - basic
  • RAPID Adhesion Release

Other techniques include:

  • Kinesiotaping Myofascial
  • Cupping and Gua Sha Techniques
  • Myoskeletal Alignment

As a therapist she believes it's very important to stay abreast with the latest research and to  learn about other modalities as massage is complementary to many other treatments such as chiropractic and physiotherapy.  By working along side these modalities the client can have a better healing experience.

She has worked tirelessly to change the perception of massage therapy from a luxury service, to a mainstream health service that positively impacts one's physical, mental and emotional well-being.  By becoming published in YEG FITNESS magazine 3 times so far, she educates her readership on all information related to massage therapy.

Yvonne has been heavily involved in the Crossfit community since 2006.  In recent years she has been training and competing in the sport of powerlifting.  In her first competition she was awarded first place in her age and weight class as well as "best overall female lifter".  In April 2015, she placed 3rd in her age and weight category at CPU Nationals.  She is once again headed to Nationals in 2019.

Most recently, she immersed herself into the world of biathlon.  A completely different focus from powerlifting, this sport requires endurance, mental calmness, and accuracy even while fatigued.

As an athlete Yvonne believes in having a team of people to help her with her recovery.  She uses massage, chiropractic, physiotherapy and professional coaching to help guide her through her training and keep her injury free.

Jennifer O'Neill, RMT

Jennifer has completed her 2200 hour RMT diploma and is currently working towards her 3000 hour credentials with Makami College.  With the foundations at hand, she is eager to broaden her knowledge in the massage field.  She is extremely excited to be a part of the team at St. Albert Sports Recovery!

She has been involved in a variety of sports throughout her life, but spent most of her teenage years heavily involved in competitive swimming.  Her goal was to swim for team Canada in the Olympics but a serious back injury sidelined that dream.

Through her recovery she saw a new goal in the medical field to help others improve their quality of life and general health.  After seeing the benefits of complementary andalternative medicine, she became interested in massage therapy.

Highly skilled in therapeutic massage and orthopaedic assessments, Jennifer is also trained in pre / post event sports massage, trigger point therapy, hot stone massage, pre / post-natal massage and relaxation therapy.
