Recently, I was awarded 2016 YEG Fitness Best Massage Therapist. This is quite an honour as it was based on your votes, and there are hundreds of amazing therapists in the Edmonton area. Each therapist brings their own flair, making it somewhat subjective. Which of course makes voting quite difficult. We all work hard, every day. We give, we listen, all while doing physical work. This doesn’t come by easily. There are days when we feel exhausted, sometimes burnt out, but we find ways to remain grounded and provide the best care that we can uphold. Some days fly by, while others drag and nothing seems to go right. So to all the massage therapists out there, a very big thank you! A huge congratulations to all the therapists that have been nominated.
For me 2016 was all about the hustle. While working on a case study, I was busy writing articles for YEG Fitness, and taking courses. That was on top of normal, every day work and running my business. I love what I do and am fortunate to have found my “calling”. The hustle comes easy because this is important to me. My clients are important to me and I want to be resourceful to them.
Receiving this accolade brings me closer to my goals as a massage therapist. The way we work is changing and I want to be a part of it. Education requirements are becoming more demanding and clients are asking for more. To me, what we learn in school to get our credentials is only the tip of the iceberg. There is a long career of learning new skill sets and asking “why?” ahead of me. So the hustle continues.
I have received numerous congratulatory messages since I won this award. To all of you, I sincerely thank you for your support and encouragement. Having all of you behind me feels like I can move mountains. My motivation is very high to set a great standard for 2017.I promise you will not be disappointed.
